I’ve only today listened to the new Strokes album and that’s OK. I don’t need to be on top of everything anymore, not even bands I used to absolutely adore. 19-year-old-me would hate me but that’s OK too. She had to compensate for things I’ve made peace with today.
As for Comedown Machine, it’s less bad than Angles, I think, but it’s still not great. Julian needs to dirty up his voice again.

This is not what I meant when I asked for the return of dirty rock’n’roll by dumbsmart prettyboys.

I know you hate to be impressed with someone else (other than yourself)
But you know trying to hold back on being an asshole helps

Oh hey, it’s my favourite frontman from the 90s and my favourite frontman from the 00s (and his band) covering a song by a band… I wanted to check out years ago.

The Strokes - “Life is Simple in the Moonlight”
Well this is… mellow. I like it though, which means this is the first new Strokes song I like at first listen. I was starting to fear that I wouldn’t really like it and would have to comfort myself with the fact that Nick is still dreamy.
