Through some coincidence this was the first New Order song I heard, ever. I was a stupid kid back then and didn’t know anything about New Order. I didn’t know anything about any band. I probably couldn’t have told you the names of the Beatles.
I only knew this song and since Bernard Sumner sounds so very young on this song and because the songs message is urgent, energetic and youthful, I thought they were a new band, consisting of a bunch of 20 year old guys.
It’s still one of their greatest songs.
