If you don’t watch this video you’re an idiot. I am uncompromising about this because
that would profit immensely from the hipster-filter. And when I say they’d profit from it, I mean that it’d be much easier for me to find posts relating to the band instead of teenies wishing that Demi Lovato (and some girl named Tiffany) get better.
* Judged were the song titles, not the songs, just to be clear. Considered were the songs off the albums “Rest now weary head! You will get well soon” and “Vexations” and the EP “Songs against the Glaciation”.
Get Well Soon, the best English-singing German band right now, recorded a live EP with a big ensemble (i.e. 15 people. The regular ensemble is 6-7 people). I’ve seen them four times now and I’ve always been blown away. It almost makes it okay that I missed Arcade Fire three years ago. Because that’s the cheap comparison people make when they want to introduce Get Well Soon to someone. Like all cheap comparisons it doesn’t really work but hey, both bands have multiple horns and strings in their set up and have classical influences. Told y’all it was cheap.
I always describe Get Well Soon like this: Get Well Soon sound like the soundtrack to the grimmer versions of Grimms fairy tales. Get Well Soon would be Novalises favourite band were he alive. Get Well Soon sound like a Caspar David Friedrich picture. Get Well Soon are the seamless continuation of the German Romance in the 21st century.
You can stream and/or download the EP and make up your own mind if all this Romance babbly means nothing to you. You absolutely should. They are brilliant.
