Today in terrible TV I watched for no good reason: Grimm
Because I am watching Once Upon A Time (although I don’t know why I bother since the scruffy Huntsman died), I figured I also have to give Grimm a shot. It’s only fair. Let me tell you what it’s about:
A dude (a policeman) comes from a long line of Grimms (but his last name is not Grimm!) which means that he has a special gift. That gift is that he can see fairy tale monsters for what they really are, i.e. fairy tale monsters. They look like normal people but when they lose control for a moment Grimms see this flash of their monster-being. Now he finds out that he is a Grimm and from now on, I guess he fights these monsters. The pilot was about Red Riding Hood where some dudes (that actually are a type of monster) kidnap people that wear red hoodies and eat them. The Grimm-dude finds one of these monsters, who, it turns out is a Cullen (although not Edward) of these monsters because he doesn’t eat children and stuff. This dude explains the Grimm all kinds of stuff, amongst others that the correct name for the people-wearing-red-hoods-eating-monster is Blutbad (German for bloodbath).
Now let me tell you why it’s terrible:
Didn’t you just read what it’s about? The story is bad, the good characters are boring, the villains seem to be boring too, there is no hot guy on the show. And worst of all: MONSTERS THAT CALL THEMSELVES BLUTBAD!
a) what kind of person calls himself a bloodbath? Like… that’s the politically correct term. Something along the lines of “Actually, we prefer to be called Blutbad” was said. What? I mean I guess in monsterworld a bloodbath is something positive but still? Wouldn’t you call yourself “Those that shed their enemies blood?” or “Those causing a bloodbath” (German: Blutbadanrichter, although I admit it doesn’t sound sexy)
b) the plural of Blutbad (the monster) is Blutbaden, according to Grimm. And that is just wrong! The correct plural of Blutbad is Blutbäder. Blutbaden might been bathing in blood but nobody says that*. Blutbaden (as a plural) is not German and The Brothers Grimm, who wrote the first German dictionary would be appaled!
Conclusio: Don’t watch this show, they don’t care about fairy tales AND grammar.
